Where are my letterings stored?

Original audio is stored on your device and, with iCloud backup on, only in your own iCloud. It never goes to our servers. With 'More accurate transcription' on, though, audio passes through Apple's speech recognition servers while it is transcribed — you can turn that off in Settings.

My transcript came out empty.

Check that microphone and speech recognition access are on for Dear Future Me in the Settings app. Without internet, recognition switches to on-device, which some devices don't support. Even with an empty transcript, your audio is saved.

Do my entries move when I change devices?

Yes. When you sign in, text and letter details sync, and audio is restored from your own iCloud backup (same Apple ID). Prefer no account? Export a .zip backup in Settings and import it on the new device.

My Instagram account won't connect.

Under Meta's policy, Instagram only shares posts from professional (Business or Creator) accounts. If yours is personal, switch it in the Instagram app under Settings → Account type, then connect again. Your posts and followers stay as they are, and you can switch back anytime. Personal Threads accounts connect fine.

Are AI pictures and essays free?

Each feature comes with a number of free uses, and you can see how many are left in the app. A subscription for more is on the way. Core lettering features — voice, transcription, weekly essays — have no limit.
